You just picked up your car from the mechanic yesterday after work. You fought traffic to get there. They close at 4:59 on the dot and you got there are 4:55. Finally your car is level again and your front bumper will not scrape the parking blocks anymore. You slept easy even after spending all of the money on new front and rear air suspension. “Hey, it was cheaper then buying a new car.” And then you see it.... The car is back on the ground.
Now I know you are thinking, the mechanic said it was the airmatic struts and rear air shocks causing the problem. They replaced them along with the suspension compressor that they urged you to buy on top of it. So why is it on the ground after one night? You call the mechanic explaining that after all of this money spent, it is doing the exact same thing it was brought in for. He tells you that they tested the entire system and found no leaks. “Maybe you should take it to the dealer?” he says. You just shake your head in disbelief...
We literally hear this horror story daily and here is what we found....
Although the suspension system is showing no faults during the day, overnight a small amount of air leaks out from the Air Suspension Solenoid Valve Block. This Solenoid Valve Block is responsible for distributing the air between the suspension compressor and the air struts in your vehicle. When internal seals degrade it causes the air to escape and water to penetrate the electrical components of the block.
A leaking valve block can also cause the air suspension compressor to overwork and "Burn Out". If you are having issues with your air suspension system, always check your solenoid valve block first. A simple soapy water test will detect any air leaks. This simple test may save you money, time, and your sanity.
